NW Volcano Illustration, February 2018

 NW Volcano Illustration

A little collaboration with Jim Borchardt at Bloom Outerwear, printed on a run of t-shirts. I originally drew the graphic with pencil in a sketchbook, then colored two versions digitally. The volcano is not any one specific northwest mountain, but it’s heavily influenced by Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood.

Above: Inspiration photo. The hillside looks like it’s out of The Lorax: This side of Strawberry Mountain, in the foreground, directly faces Mt. Saint Helens. After the 1980 explosion destroyed all of the trees facing south toward the volcano, crews came in and cleared out the dead trees, leaving stump city
